Telegram Invite Link Not Working: Invalid, Expired, or Unable to Join

A t.me preview can still open even when the invite no longer works. Use the message you see to check expiration, revocation, username changes, join approval and account-specific restrictions.

Identify where the link fails

If the browser cannot load the t.me page at all, first check that the link was copied in full, that your network can reach Telegram and that your device is allowed to hand the link to the Telegram app. One failed page load is not enough to prove that a channel has disappeared.

If the preview shows a name and image but Telegram reports an error only after you tap Join, the public preview still exists while invite validation, approval or access for the current account has failed.

“Invite link expired” or “invalid invite”

Telegram allows private invite links to have an expiration date and usage limit, and administrators can revoke them. Telegram also reports expired and invalid invite hashes separately, so an old preview page does not prove that the invitation can still be used.

  • Copy the complete link again and remove trailing spaces or punctuation.
  • Return to the channel’s official website, confirmed public account or the original post to look for a replacement.
  • If the group has no public username, only an administrator can provide a new private invitation.
  • Never give a login code to a bot or person claiming they can restore an expired invitation.

A join request is not a dead link

Some private groups require an administrator to approve new members. Telegram invite data includes a request-needed state, so a pending request should not be recorded as an invalid link.

Submit the request once and wait. Repeatedly cancelling and resubmitting it, or messaging unknown accounts that claim to be administrators, is unlikely to speed up approval.

The public username may have changed

Channels and supergroups can change their public usernames. An old t.me/username may stop resolving and could later point to a different entity. Always recheck the name, bio, message history and administrator details instead of trusting a familiar avatar.

  • Find the current link again from a trusted official website or confirmed social profile.
  • Search the old display name inside Telegram, then compare the public username character by character.
  • If the destination no longer matches the TGPath description, do not join before reporting the change.

When the problem affects only your account

If the same link works on another account or device, the issue may concern the current account, app state or a restriction applied by that group. TGPath cannot remove group-level restrictions.

  • Update Telegram, close it completely and try the link one more time.
  • Confirm that you are using the intended account when several accounts are signed in.
  • Avoid joining large numbers of groups in a short period.
  • If the group previously removed or banned the account, only its administrators can confirm whether it may return.

Report a broken link to TGPath

If a TGPath link opens a preview but Telegram reports that it is invalid, expired or unavailable, send the TGPath page URL, the exact Telegram message and a screenshot to @tgpath888. We will distinguish temporary failures, pending approval, username changes and confirmed dead links before updating or removing an entry.

Do not include your phone number, login code, private messages, payment details or other personal information in the screenshot. TGPath’s only public contact is @tgpath888.
